The alloy.
EN AW-5754 is an aluminium-magnesium alloy. Corrosion resistant, weldable, formable, with a strength-to-weight ratio that makes it the European standard for structural applications in aggressive environments.
We choose it because it needs no galvanising, resists freeze-thaw cycling without degradation, and its weldability lets us certify the whole structure to EN 15085-2 class 1.
EN 15085-2 class 1 is the highest welding qualification level for railway vehicles built to carry passengers — the same standard that governs high-speed trains and metro cars. Applying it to a snow groomer cabin means treating every weld bead as a critical structural element, with qualified procedures, full material traceability and non-destructive testing on every load-bearing joint. It is the reason why, after thirty years of Alpine installations, no 4Cats cabin has ever suffered a structural failure.
EN AW-5754 aluminium also lets us keep the overall cabin weight down: a lighter structure reduces stress on the snow groomer chassis, improves stability on steep slopes and extends the service life of the vehicle. No trade-off between safety, comfort and mechanical performance.
Six phases. All in-house.

- 04Quality controlNon-destructive testing of critical welds.
- 05Finishing & insulationSurface treatments, interior panelling, thermo-acoustic insulation.

Where a 4Cats cabin works.
Every cabin leaving Bergamo is configured for a specific mission. These are the four we build for most often.
Guest transport to Alpine refuges
The most requested configuration: 16-23 seats on removable benches, auxiliary heating, LED lighting, servo-assisted ladder. Safe payload on gradients above 40% and temperatures down to −30 °C. Club Moritzino, Boch and Piz Seteur run one every evening through the winter season.
Hospitality and dining service
Transport cabin in custom livery with full-body graphics for high-altitude bar and restaurant service. Finished interiors, ergonomic seating, panoramic glazing. Chosen by Montebello and other refuges that want to extend the dining experience beyond the venue.
Shelter and overnight stays at altitude
Shelter configuration with controlled microclimate, reinforced sound damping and overnight fit-out. Used for base camps, weather stations and photographic expeditions that need to sleep away from the refuge network.
Medical, broadcast and rescue
Custom configuration to specification: stretchers and medical equipment, video regie with cable pre-wiring, mobile units for civil protection and mountain rescue. Built around the mission, not adapted afterwards.
Every cabin is a unique project.
